I know this is a popular theory, but it doesn’t hold up under scrutiny. Without Indy recovering the medallion from Marion and locating the Well of Souls, the Nazis would have never found the Ark. I suppose they may have eventually stumbled upon it while digging in Tanis, but that’s a stretch.
